Anyone else feel like this December and Christmas season has gone by so fast!?
We have been in what I have called "Holiday School" mode this month. We set aside our normal schooling curriculum except for math and have been:
~making lots of cookies
~doing extra Brave Writer activities that we've made into holiday themes ~playing a lot of educational games that the kids like (Professor Noggin Trivia card games are a hit with my kids, they even asked for more for Christmas!) ~they've made Christmas cards and gifts
~set up Christmas Parties for each other
~drank several cups of hot chocolate while reading winter poems and christmas picture books
~went to Holiday Junction train display and a Polar Express story time
~learning to sign some Christmas songs
~read from 3 Advent books each day, including dad reading everyone one of them and him reading aloud "A Christmas Carol" and now "Young Scrooge"
~yesterday on their own they started reenacting " A Christmas Carol" one of our favorite stories.
~Festival of Lights at the Zoo
In addition to all that we've got a stack of probably over 30 christmas books that we've been reading through this month, thats probably one of my favorite this about Dec. 1st, pulling out all the Christmas books!
Overall I'd say a pretty productive and fun season!
